A COMPANY involved in fly-tipping has been hit with legal and clean up bills of over £600.
At Harlow Magistrates' Court on December 10 building firm First Choice Building and Home Improvements Limited, which is based in Harlow, was fined £200 and ordered to pay £425.72 prosecution costs for failing to take reasonable measures which led to rubbish being dumped on a site in Epping Lane in Stapleford Tawney.
After being interviewed by council officers, company director Petru Gigerciuc admitted paying an employee £40 to take the rubbish away without checking the man had a licence to transport it.
A spokesperson for Epping Forest District Council said: "Householders and businesses have duty of care responsibilities to ensure their waste is passed on to an authorised person to be disposed of correctly."
