ENGLAND batsman Jonathan Trott has had a week to remember.
The right-hander has been a Spurs fan since his childhood in Cape Town and inherited his love of the club from his grandfather, so he will have thoroughly enjoyed the side's back-to-back wins over the festive period.
Spurs beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Boxing Day and overcame Newcastle United 2-0 yesterday afternoon – despite going down to ten men on both occasions – to regain fourth spot in the league.
The lads have now gone ten games without a loss and will be looking to continue their run into 2011, which starts with a visit from Fulham on New Year's Day.
Let's hope our clean sheet against the Toon – our first in the league since the opening day of the season – is a sign of things to come.
Like every other Tottenham fan, Trott will be cheering on Bolton tonight as a win or a draw would prevent their opponents Chelsea from leapfrogging us back into the last Champions League place.
Of course, there's also the small matter of his man-of-the-match performance against Australia in Melbourne, in which his unbeaten 168 gave England the perfect platform to win the test and retain the Ashes for the first time in 24 years.
As I say, a good week for the lad.
