RUBBISH is being cleared from homes again after harsh weather led to bags piling up across the district over Christmas.
Bin men were ordered to stay at their depots after snow fell at the beginning of the month and the extra rubbish from the festive period piled up, with waste not being collected for more than a month.
The district council's head of environment, Mary Sartin, said crews would make up for the lost collections as part of their rounds for the holiday period, which started on Wednesday.
“With the weather conditions that we have now, our contractors are operating on the Christmas and New Year calendar and the collections are back to what they should be,” she said.
