SEVEN gas cylinders were at risk of exploding in a skip fire last night.

Firefighters took four-and-a-half hours to contain the blaze in Sewardstone Road, Chingford.

It started at 7pm in a skip behind Marshfield Nursery.

Firefighters from Waltham Abbey, Loughton and Epping were called to the scene.

An exclusion scene was set up and a Hazmat officer, who is specially trained to deal with chemicals, was sent in.

The skip was well alight, and seven propane and butane cylinders were spotted.

Firefighters cooled the cylinders. The fire was out by 11.45pm.
