AN ONGAR man has been sentenced for his part in a multi-million pound cocaine ring.
Anthony Dennis, 43, of Bassett Lane, admitted being part of the circle that smuggled more than 220 lbs of cocaine into the UK from Europe on an inflatable boat.
July 7 hero firefighter Simon Ford, 41 was part of the gang and 31 others have also been convicted for their involvement in smuggling and money laundering.
Money to buy the drugs was laundered through a West London taxi company and notes were changed from Sterling to smaller, lighter Euros so they could be moved around more easily.
Police uncovered the gang's activities when they noticed up to 450,000 Euros at a time being changed and fed back into the laundering network.
Dennis pleaded guilty to five counts of money laundering and was handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence.
Police are still looking for two men – Carlos Tabares, who is wanted for drug trafficking and believed to be in the UK, and Nicholas John Tayler, known as Peter, who is wanted for money laundering and could be in the UK or Europe.
Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
