A DRAMATIC 999 call made moments after a man allegedly broke a woman's arm and repeatedly hit her son's head on a pavement was played in court today.
Yacine Rabia, 25, of James Lane, Leyton, is accused of attacking Anne Marie Shinkwin, after she became involved in a family row between his girlfriend Elizabeth and her mother Emma Livings.
Rabia arranged to meet Emma Livings and Ms Shinkwin on March 18 last year after a series of heated exchanges by text over the care of Ms Livings' children.
A heated argument broke out between the defendant and Ms Shinkwin. He allegedly punched her to the ground, breaking her arm by stamping on it.
The prosecution claims Rabia then hit her son Daryl Reilly as he came to her defence and repeatedly bashed his head on the pavement.
Rabia denies causing grievous bodily harm with intent and causing actual bodily harm.
A recording of a 999 call made by Natalie Newton, Daryl Reilly’s girlfriend, was played at Snaresbrook Crown Court today.
The court heard a series of scuffles, arguments and swearing in the background while Ms Newton made the call.
She asked the 999 operator for an ambulance, before Ms Shinkwin grabbed the phone and pleaded for an ambulance.
Ms Newton then said: “There's a fight kicking off outside... One of the ladies was knocked over and hurt her arm.”
She added that Ms Shinkwin “had passed out when she was knocked on to the floor”.
She had regained consciousness before the call was made.
A description of Rabia is given before the operator dispatches an ambulance and police.
The case has been adjourned until Monday when the alleged victim Ms Shinkwin and witness Ms Newton will be recalled to give evidence.
The defence case is expected to be heard on Monday following the prosecution case.
A verdict is expected next week.
