SUPER-fast broadband will soon be introduced to part of the district.

Epping is one of eight rural market towns in the east of England that will benefit from a 40Mb/s internet connection from the first half of 2012.

According to BT, more than 5,500 homes and businesses will be able to access the high-speed broadband.

The company has pledged to invest £2.5 billion to provide a faster internet connection to two-thirds of homes and businesses in the country.

Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing welcomed the news.

“In this modern, electronic world where everyone wants the fastest access to the internet it is great that part of the constituency is going to be at the forefront of the next phase of BT's massive investment programme,” she said.
