TWO BOGUS builders have been jailed after conning a woman out of £7,300.
Shayne Ennew, 29, and Steven Taylor, 33, were both jailed for 15 months for defrauding the 57-year-old woman from Ilford, following a three-day trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court last week.
In April 2009 the pair, from Tiptree in Essex, told the woman that her roof was in a dangerous condition and urgently needed repairs.
They convinced her to part with the cash but an investigation by the police and Redbridge Trading Standards found that her roof was in far better condition than she had been lead to believe, and that the true cost of repairs was nowhere near what she had paid.
The men were arrested in October 2009, when they denied the charge of fraud by false representation.
Police say they have not released further details of the woman's address as she has previously been targeted by rogue traders and fraudsters over a number of years.
