DESPITE a large fall in reported gun crime in London last year, levels remained the same in Waltham Forest.
Metropolitan Police Data for the 12 months up to December show offences involving a firearm have fallen by 10.4 per cent across the capital, but have remained constant in the borough with 151 separate reports.
Waltham Forest has seen a five per cent fall in reported violent attacks and a big fall in hate and homophobic crime complaints, but robberies have increased by 8 per cent.
There has been a slight increase in the number of reported burglaries, compared to an overall fall in London.
The level of sexual offences has also remained constant, with 300 reported offences.
There were five murders in the borough last year, the same number as the year before.
The number of murders in London is at a 30-year low and charges have been brought in 80 per cent of cases reported in 2010.
Domestic crime and motor vehicle crime has also stayed at similar levels.
Acting Commissioner Tim Godwin said: "I am committed to tackling the issues of serious youth violence and knife crime and I know that my officers will do all that they can to make the streets of London safer for everyone."
