THE footballing world is currently whipping itself up into a frenzy over the battle to take over the Olympic stadium and Spurs have found themselves an unexpected supporter – Pele.
That's right, arguably the greatest footballer to ever walk the earth is fully behind the club's bid to move to Stratford post-2012 While Olympics big-wigs and the nation's media froth at the mouth while screaming the word “Legacy!” at the tops of their voices, let me cut through the maelstrom of opinion to sound what I hope is a note of common sense.
Sorry Edison Arantes do Nascimento (if that is your real name), you may have won three World Cups but when it comes to the future of my club, you're way off the mark.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, we're a north London club and heading east would be a bad move.
But, it's heartening to know that Spurs could now be among the best known clubs in the world, if only because of some foolhardy scheme to move away from it's historic home.
Tomorrow sees us take on Newcastle United in a potentially tricky tie, but I've every confidence that we will have enough to see off the Magpies.
Especially as Steven Pienaar could make his début and the not-so-divine ponytail Andy Carroll is once again on the injured list.
