CHILDREN planted bulbs to celebrate the Jewish New Year for Trees on Thursday.
Youngsters from the Chigwell and Hainault Synagogue Nursery celebrating the Tu’Bishvat holiday on January 20 also planted trees in the synagogue grounds and had a fruit party with 15 different kinds of fruit.
A tree was planted in honour of the first minister of the synagogue, Rabbi Alan Burns, who died recently.
"We are always proud of our children," said nursery head Melanie Kaye, adding that it "was a pleasure and privilege to be able to honour the memory of Rabbi Burns on this occasion".
