A FACEBOOK film warning young people about violent crime will be distributed in the borough.
The interactive film Who Killed Deon?, which was initially availbale on facebook and is aimed at 13 to 15 year olds, will be distributed by police between Wednesday (January 26) and Friday.
Police hope the film will educate children about the risks of joint enterprise, which can see people who played very different roles in a killing prosecuted for the same offence.
It is often used when police cannot prove who inflicted a fatal blow.
Waltham Forest has been chosen as one of London's ten 'priority boroughs' because of high levels of youth violence.
The film shows how five out of six characters are all guilty of murder.
Each of the six stories show a character with a different connection to the killing and explains why the they were charged with murder, even though their involvement may appear to have been minimal.
The film can be watched online by following a link to www.facebook.com/whokilleddeon from www.met.police.co.uk.
