THE United States of America Olympics team have signed a deal to train in Leyton before and during the 2012 Games.
The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) have reached an agreement with the Score Centre, in Oliver Road, to use its facilities for five weeks in July and August over the Games period.
The Americans will have access to five Olympic-sized sports courts and two basketball courts at the complex, which is located next to Leyton Orient FC's ground.
Details of which athletes will use the building have yet to be worked out, but they could include the Wrestling, Judo, Taekwondo, Boxing, Fencing, and Volleyball teams.
However the USOC will use facilities at the University of East London (UEL)'s Stratford and Docklands campuses as their primary site for training.
Many of the team will also live there prior to moving into the Athletes Village at the start of the Games.
Waltham Forest Council says the sportsmen and women will also be involved in community events during their stay.
USOC Chief of Sport Performance, Alan Ashley, said: "The U.S. Olympic Committee is dedicated to providing our athletes and teams with the resources necessary to succeed.
"This agreement with Score will provide our athletes with a convenient, first-class facility, and ensure that Team USA is ready to compete at the 2012 Olympic Games."
Council leader Cllr Chris Robbins said he was "delighted" at the news.
He added: "I hope its highly trained and motivated athletes will act as a real inspiration to our young people.
"It is a great honour for us to host one of the largest Olympic teams in our borough and I wish them well in the forthcoming Games."
