DISABLED youngsters have won the right to compete in a prestigious competition at the home of cricket.

A team from Brookfield House School in Alders Avenue, Woodford Green, triumphed at the Essex heat of the National Table Cricket Competition, and will go on to play in the final later this year.

Table cricket is played on a table tennis table with specially-designed bats and balls.

The national competition is now in its 13th year and attracts more than 500 youngsters playing for 50 teams each year.

The Brookfield House School team will take on Beacon Hill School from Thurrock in the national final at Lord's Cricket Ground on June 17.

The competition is organised by the Lord's Taverners in association with the Macquarie Group Foundation.
