CONCERNED shoppers will try to save the picturesque flower beds of a busy street after their funding was cut by the council.
The flower beds on George Lane, South Woodford, are in danger of disappearing after their £14,000 budget was cut by Redbridge Council.
Cllr Richard Hoskins, of Church End ward, said: “A great number of people say they would miss the flowers greatly, so we’re looking at what alternative routes we could take to save them.”
One option is to reduce the council’s cost to simply buying the flowers, with shoppers and residents planting them.
“It would be a lot of hard work, but we hope people will want to join in,” added Cllr Hoskins.
