A FIRE at a chemical warehouse which prompted police to warn residents to stay indoors has been put out.
The blaze broke out at 7.30am on an industrial estate next to the King George's Reservoir in Jeffreys Road, Enfield, sending black smoke across Chingford.
The London Fire Brigade says the blaze was brought under control at 10.15am and has now been completely extinguished.
Tests confirmed that no toxic fumes emanated from the site and there are no public safety issues.
All cordons, apart from one at the warehouse itself, have been lifted.
Fire crews evacuated a large part of the surrounding area.
Around 120 people were moved to a rest centre.
Eyewitnesses told the Guardian's sister paper The Enfield Independent that fire-fighters advised them to leave the scene because of the risk of an explosion.
