PUPILS marked the start of the school holidays with a bonnet-making competition.
Children at Avon House Prep School in Woodford Green High Road competed in the Easter-themed contest on their last day of term.
Mayor and mayoress of Redbridge Jim and Mary O'Shea judged the competition, and were very impressed with the quality of bonnets on display.
The guest judges eventually named Arsh Malik and Arianna Yusuf the winner overall, while Duaa Malik and Munachim Nliam were named runners-up.
Mayor O'Shea said: “We had a great day. Some of the children came up with some wonderful, very creative Easter bonnets. It was very difficult to pick a first and second place in each age group.
“We were happy to do this to say thank you to Avon House for providing the choir for the Christmas carol service at Snaresbrook Crown Court last year.
“It was lovely to meet at the children and teachers, and a fun day was had by all.”
