THE organisers of the annual E17 Art Trail are now accepting applications for budding artists who want to take part in this year's event.

The festival is due to take place between Friday September 2, and Sunday September 11, and will feature a wide variety of exhibits across the area.

The theme of this year's event is 'On Your Marks', which is loosely based on anticipation for the Olympic Games in 2012.

Laura Kerry, one of the founders of the trail, said organisers hoped to build on the success of last year's festival, which featured more than 200 events and exhibits.

She said: “The greatest areas for development now must include further partnerships with local business and if any would like to get more involved please get in touch.

"We are always looking to find new and surprising venues for art as well as supporters of the art trail."

Registration is open to all and costs £30. The deadline for entries is Monday June 13.

Participants must be able to secure a venue for their works within the E17 postcode area in order to take part.

The full festival programme will be announced in August.
