THE public could soon see the latest town hall developments from the comfort of their own homes under council plans to broadcast meetings over the internet.
Redbridge Council is looking at a series of options for showing live footage of council meetings via its Redbridge-i website, known as 'webcasting'.
The cost of broadcasting meetings from the main council chamber has been estimated at around £18,000 each year, while showing meetings in the various committee rooms in Ilford Town Hall would cost more.
Neighbouring Epping Forest District Council currently broadcasts its committee meetings via its website, but Waltham Forest does not.
Members of the overview committee will meet to discuss the proposals on Monday (April 18), where councillors' will select their preferred option and refer it to cabinet for further discussion.
