A WALTHAMSTOW man will be running the London Marathon dressed as Zorro in memory of his brother, who died of cancer aged six.

Andrew Sharp, 37, of Chelmsford Road, has so far raised over £3,000 for charity WellChild, which supports families caring for sick children.

Mr Sharp's brother Matthew would have been 40 this year.

He said he remembers being away from his immediate family during his brother's two year cancer battle.

His father worked full-time while his mother travelled almost everyday from their home in Kent to St Thomas' Hospital in London.

Mr Sharp added: “When she wasn't travelling, sometimes she would stay the night, so it felt like she pretty much lived there.

“WellChild do such an important work by giving families some relief.

“They also help to ease the disruption to family lives and keep the family together.

“And for the well-being of the child it is better for them to be in their home where it is comfortable and familiar.”

Mr Sharp has been preparing for the event since Christmas, by running home from his office in central London and training at the weekend.

He chose to dress as the masked swordsman as he is one of his favourite film characters.
