THE creators of hit reality TV drama The Only Way is Essex have denied claims that they stole the idea for the programme’s format.
According to reports in the national press, Big Brother winner Brian Belo, who appeared on the show’s pilot but was later axed, claimed to have thought of the concept and pitched it to production companies.
He is said to be suing his former manager Adam Muddle and Lime Pictures, which produces the show filmed around Loughton and Brentwood.
But Lime Pictures has strongly denied the claims.
A spokeswoman added: “We have not received any formal complaint from Brian Belo or anyone acting on his behalf.
“The format and content of the programme was created and developed by a specialist team at Lime Pictures, following previous successes with other reality dramas.”
