COUNCILLORS have blocked plans to build a block of 11 flats that residents feared would result in traffic chaos.
A delegation of 10 residents from Station Way in Buckhurst Hill attended the planning committee meeting at Epping District Council on Wednesday April 20 to protest plans to build a four story block of flats on the site of an old eletrical-sub station.
Shopkeeper Vijay Chavda expressed residents’ concerns that a traffic overspill from the development would result in parking chaos and the block would overshadow the gardens in nearby Honey Way.
Councillors ultimately voted 18 to 0 to block the plans by Green Place Capital Ltd.
Station Way resident, Jane Sandall, 57, said: “The result was a complete endorsement of our views. The councillors did not like the plan and were very complimentary about our petition.”
