A HUGE fire which ripped through an industrial estate in Walthamstow appears not to have been started deliberately, police have said.
The blaze, which started at around 4.20pm on Good Friday (April 22) at the Kimberley Road estate by Billet Road, Walthamstow, burnt for four days and caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.
In a statement today (Wednesday April 27), police said they are not involved in the investigation into its cause and are not treating the fire as suspicious.
The London Fire Brigade is currently carrying out an investigation into how it started but will not comment further.
Staff at units on the estate told the Guardian it began at a warehouse where second hand car tyres were being stored.
At least eight buildings on the site are so badly damaged they will have to be demolished, while around 50 vehicles were also destroyed.
No-one was injured.
