A TROUBLED estate has received a boost after scooping a £10,000 grant for community projects.
The National Lottery has awarded the cash to Circle 33 housing trust to spend on the Priory Court complex in Walthamstow following a joint bid by more than 40 local groups.
The money will be spent on a series of seasonal events and activities, as well as on efforts to recruit volunteers for community work.
A new newsletter is also planned, along with a project for residents to make a short film about what life on the estate is like.
The housing trust runs a community centre on the estate and is trying to tackle issues which blight the area such as anti-social behaviour and gang activity.
Circle 33 managing director Jeff Baker said: “A lot is happening at Priory Court and we are working hard to make it a better place for everyone now and in the future.
"Together with our partners, we will use the funding to continue to improve our neighbourhood.
"It will be exciting to create even more opportunities which will develop community pride and bring everyone closer together."
