After being allowed inside he stole a number of rings and pendants.
He is described as a 24-year-old white man, about five feet eight inches tall, of slim build, with short dark hair and called himself 'Michael'.
Police are warning residents to be vigilant when people come to their door, by making sure they ask for proof of identitiy and to call the company the caller claims to represent.
