BRAVE volunteers abseiled down the sheer side of a tower for charity.
Four volunteers lowered themselves with a harness and rope from the 110 ft tower in Church Langley, Harlow, to raise money for Chigwell Riding Centre, which teaches disabled people how to ride.
They were among a number of groups from throughout the area who abseiled down the tower on Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1 to raise money for a variety of causes.
Louise Kurkus, 29, was among them She said: “When I got to the top I thought ‘I am going to reconsider this. It seemed such a long way down.
“Once I got off the views were amazing and i really took my time. It was a beautiful day and you could see all around.
“Everyone watching below was cheering us on, which was great.”
Louise, who has volunteered for the Riding Centre for six months, said: “The Centre is such an amazing place. I have never felt so welcomed anywhere.
“It gives disabled people from two to 78 years old a freedom in riding that they usually do not have.”
The volunteers managed to raise over £2,000 for the Riding Centre.
