NEARLY 200 runners fought their way through steams, bogs and ditches in a bid to win an ‘extreme race’.
The race, which included obstacles like pits, piles of compost and log jumps in farmland near Ongar, was won by snooker champion Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Organiser Tracey Alexandrou, who is also the Chigwell resident's personal trainer, said: “I called it the Lactic Rush because when you exercise, you get lactic acid when you really push yourself, so it's getting that rush.
“I asked a few people if they experienced it and they said they did.
“I was proud of Ronnie. He texted me afterwards to say he really enjoyed himself.”
She said any profits from Sunday's race would go to the forces charity Help for Heroes and she planned on making it an annual event.
