ORGANISERS of the Walthamstow International Film Festival are appealing for entries as the deadline for applications looms near.

The event, which is due to take place during the E17 Art Trail in September, is expanding this year following its success in 2010.

It has also now been revealed that two venues will be used for this year's festival - Beyca Retro Furniture Emporium in Grove Road and Ye Olde Rose and Crown pub in Hoe Street.

A short film advertising the festival compiled with the help of Walthamstow artists has also been released today.

Organiser Liza Fletcher said: "We hope to attract as many films as possible and to beat last years’ record of 90 films.

"All submitted films will be shown during the festival to launch and display local and international talent and provide a platform to show films in each of the categories, which are Drama, Documentary, Experimental, and Music and Animation."

The judging panel includes Baroness Oona King, Withnail and I actor Paul McGann, director Barry Bliss and Time Out film critic David Jenkins.

They will make a decision in August before the results are announced at the festival, which takes place on the weekends of September 3 and 4 and September 10 and 11.
