A CAMPAIGNER lost a stone in weight during a gruelling two weeks spent locked in a metal box with no contact with the outside world.

Phil Knight, 27, of Ainslie Wood Road in Chingford, staged the stunt to raise awareness of human trafficking.

He was sealed inside a shipping container outside Euston station and survived on just cornflakes and water.

The musician said he felt emotional and isolated during the ordeal and found it difficlut to sleep.

“It was the hardest thing I have ever done,” he said. “But what drove me, was the thought of young girls and children who get trafficked everyday, but don’t have a voice.

“It was worth it and it is raising awarenes about a very serious issue.”

Mr Knight also developed back pain due to being unable to move around freely in the container, which was 10ft wide and 8ft high, but was rewarded with a pasty and pint when he came out.

He added: “The worst thing about being inside the container was the feeling of complete isolation.

“The one thing I missed when I was inside was my wife Charlie and she was the first person I saw when I came out of the container.

“Outside looked so different, as if I had completely forgot what it looked like.

“The fresh air, everything was just amazing and I felt so exhilarated.

“I had told my sister that I wanted a Cornish pastie and a pint of ale and when I came out there she was with it.”

Mr Knight completed the task, which was in aid of the Helen Bamber Foundation, on August 8.
