TWO hundred police officers hit the streets of Waltham Forest again on another night of calm in the borough following the violent disorder that broke out last Saturday.
Extra detectives were also brought in to assist the officers.
Following days of vandalism and disruption in Chingford, Walthamstow and Leytonstone as part of the riots in London this week, there were no reported incidents of looting or rioting in the borough overnight.
The Borough Commander, Chief Superintendent Steve Wisbey, said: “The community spirit in Waltham Forest is strong and we ask everyone to continue working with police and partners to bring offenders to justice.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the community who have been offering their support, which has been overwhelming.
“The officers and staff at Waltham Forest are reporting to me how the kindness of local people is making their job easier.”
Sixty-two arrests have been made in connection with rioting and looting in Waltham Forest earlier this week, of which 32 do not live in the borough.
