THE first in a series of free guided bat walks around the borough takes place this weekend at Hollow Ponds in Leytonstone.
Participants will be given bat detectors to help hear the creatures during the walk, which will explore the contribution bats make to the local environment.
Organised by staff at the Hornbeam Environmental Centre and cafe in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, it is on Saturday (August 20) starting at 7.45pm.
Advance booking is required and up to two children can attend with an accompanying adult.
Other bat walk take place at Hollow Ponds, in Whipps Cross Road, on Friday September 2 at 7.15pm, and at Highams Park Lake in The Charter Road on Saturday August 27 at 7.30pm and Satuurday September 24 at 6.30pm.
