A ROUTINE shopping trip became a dream come true for a family when a 6-year-old boy won a golden ticket to Disneyland.
On Saturday, August 13, Anna Newby took her son, Teddy, 6, and 11-year-old daughter, Olivia, out with her husband Brad, 39, to do the weekly shop in Morrisons in the High Road, Loughton.
Fearing she would be given a parking ticket and eager to get back to the car, she almost forgot about the pack of free Disney cards she was entitled to having spent over £30.
Mrs Newby, who is 39 and lives with her family in Colebrook Gardens, Loughton, said: “I actually said to the lady at the till ‘I best get the cards because the winning one is bound to be in there,’ jokingly.”
When they got back to the car she gave Teddy the cards to play with.
Mrs Newby continued: “We were just setting off back and Teddy started screaming with excitement. I turned round and saw he was holding this shining ticket.
“We were very excited. I called everyone to say we had found this ticket to Disneyland in Paris. It is a bit surreal really considering there are only 1000 that can be won in the country.
“We have never been to Disneyland. The little one is thrilled. Olivia is looking forward to all the rides.”
