A SECURITY guard, an accountant and a mechanic are among 36 people who have been charged in connection with the violent disorder which broke out across the borough last week.

Redbridge police say that half of those charged so far are unemployed. They have also charged one schoolboy and six students.

The total number of arrests in the borough now stands at 66, and Borough Commander Detective Chief Superintendent Sue Williams said more arrests would follow.

She added: “Since August 8, I have had many police officers available for patrols and investigating all the crimes reported.

“They have worked long hours without rest days and many returned from leave to assist their colleagues.”

The police have issued a series of CCTCV stills of people they want to speak to in connection with incidents of disorder, and Det Ch Supt Williams appealed to the public to help identify them.

She asked anyone with any information to avoid approaching any suspects.

Anyone who does have any information should call Redbridge Police on 020 8345 2764 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
