A 32-year-old woman was injured when her car burst into flames in the car park of McDonald's in Leytonstone High Road.
It happened at around 4.20am on Saturday (August 13).
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
The woman was rushed to hospital for treatment, although her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
The burnt wreckage of the car was cordoned off by police over the weekend, initially sparking speculation among residents that the damage was linked to riots in the borough last week.
A Met spokeswoman said: "Police were called to the area after reports of a vehicle on fire. Already on scene were the London Fire Brigade who extinguished the fire."
She added it was "believed to be an accident".
