STUDENTS who received their A-level results this week have been urged to drop their university plans and instead help spearhead Britain’s economic recovery.

On Thursday, August 18, students across the borough celebrated their A-level results.

The Essex Federation of Small Businesses (Essex FSB), though, has asked students to consider avoiding the thousands of pounds in debt and course fees incurred at university and instead become entrepreneurs and launch their own businesses.

Essex FSB Chairman Ian Wicks said: “In the FSB we know that there are young people across the country who have that entrepreneurial spirit to launch and grow their own business.

“What Essex FSB would like to see happen is for students who perhaps didn’t quite get the grades they needed for their first choice university to take a step back and have a think about being their own boss.

“It is young entrepreneurs with good ideas and the enthusiasm to convert those ideas in to successful businesses who will get Britain’s economy booming again and we want to see them happening here in Redbridge.”

Until November 25 when it will close due to Government funding cuts, Business Link East offers free advice on whether a business idea is viable or not.

They can be contacted on 08457 171615.

Advice can also be found on the FSB website at www,fsb.org.uk/essex.

The FSB represents small businesses throughout the country.
