THERE were paper elephants and Indian food at the celebrations for a Hindu festival at a hospice for seriously ill children.
To mark the Raksha Bandhan festival, which honours the relationship between siblings, at Haven House Hospice in Woodford Green, children made paper garlands, traditional rangoli bracelets and enjoyed a performance by Mr Zippy the clown.
Judi Porter, who organized the event, said: “What stood out for me this year was that some of the parents had asked if they could bring their own siblings, so the grounds at Haven house were alive with brothers and sisters.”
The event was held on August 11 in the hospice’s grounds in the High Road and was funded by the Charles S French Charitable Trust.
