THE youngest person charged over this month's riots in the borough is aged just 14, police have revealed.

At least 60 people are known to have been arrested over the violence and looting in Waltham Forest which formed part of the London-wide disorder earlier this month.

However the Met is not officially releasing arrest and charge figures for individual boroughs.

Police have not revealed further details about what the 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is alleged to have done.

The oldest person charged in the borough is aged 48, but no further details have been made available.

Waltham Forest superintendent Adrian Hutchinson said this week that the majority of riot suspects locally were aged under 30, but he downplayed the extent of gang involvement in the disorder.
