A WOMAN who painted her car in the style of a classic computer game is appealing for its return after it was stolen.

Anna Rosenberg, 31, who daubed her Nissan Micra with pictures from the 1980s favourite Space Invaders two years, is distraught after finding it had been stolen last week.

Miss Rosenberg, of Nightingale Lane, Wanstead, had gone away for the weekend with her boyfriend only to come back on Sunday, August 21, to find her retro vehicle had been stolen from its parking space on the road.

She said: “I know it’s not the flashiest car but it’s special to me - it’s been with me for 10 years and I think it’s a wonderful little machine.”

Miss Rosenberg, who works in media, decided her car needed a paint job after she was continually teased by a production designer colleague about the vehicle.

“My colleague used to take the mick out of my car so I found the idea on the internet and bet a bottle of whisky that he couldn’t do it. A group of us stayed up until two in the morning to finish it and it looked fantastic,” she said.

“I literally stumbled across it and I love retro stuff like that and I thought it would be awesome.”

The car’s new look attracted plenty of attention, and Miss Rosenberg has found pictures of it on people’s blogs and websites, while people frequently photographed it while she was driving around.

She said the police believe it is likely the car is still in the area and she is appealing for anyone who sees the car to call the Guardian on 01992 572 285 to let her know.

It is believed to have been stolen sometime between the evening of Thursday, August 18 and Sunday, August 21.
