TRANSPORT bosses have apologised for yesterday's nightmare delays on the Victoria line and promised refunds for passengers.
The underground route, which includes two Walthamstow stations, suffered major disruption throughout Tuesday (August 30) due to both late-running engineering works and signal problems at Seven Sisters.
There were severe delays during both morning and evening rush hour, with the line also being suspended between Walthamstow Central and King's Cross.
Transport for London (TfL) has blamed its contractors and said the signal problems were a result of the late-running engineering work.
A spokesman said all Victoria Line passengers affected that day will have their journeys refunded automatically when they use their Oyster cards in the next few days.

The delays came after the line had been suspended between Walthamstow Central and King's Cross for the entire Bank Holiday weekend.
Mike Brown, London Underground's Managing Director, said: "I apologise to passengers for the disruption on the Victoria line and assure them that we are doing everything possible to resolve the issue and minimise the disruption as they travel home.
"I'm very disappointed that our contractors have failed today to deliver the reliable service that our passengers deserve, and we are pressing both Invensys and Bombardier to take every measure to ensure this situation is not repeated."
A TfL spokesman added: "The new signalling, when fully operational, will mean a 21 per cent increase in capacity, or space for an extra 10,000 journeys per hour."
