THE owner of a fast food chicken shop has been fined £2,800 for failing to keep it clean.
Babar Hussain was taken to court by Waltham Forest Council following an inspection of his ‘Griller' outlet at 200 Walthamstow High Street.
He was charged with seven offences including failure to keep the premises clean and maintained in good condition.
He was also accused of not having proper procedures in place for waste disposal, pest control and staff training.
Hussain pleaded guilty and was also ordered to pay costs of £3,215.
Cllr Clyde Loakes, the authority's cabinet member for environment, said: “We take a very hard line when it comes to food safety and ensuring our food establishments are subject to regular and rigorous inspections.
“Whether they are fast food takeaways or fine dining restaurants, the council will not hesitate to bring a prosecution against those whose irresponsible behaviour puts the health of their customers and our residents at great risk.”
