WAGGING tails and shiny coats were the order of the day at a Wanstead dog show.
Dogs of all sizes were pitted against each other on May 7 in a bid to raise money for the roof of Christ Church in Wanstead Place.
Head of the social committee for The Friends of St Mary the Virgin with Christ Church, Jacqui Bull, 40, organised the event.
She said: "Despite it being a rainy Bank Holiday we still managed to get a lovely turn out of 125 dogs.
Community spirit was out in force on the day."
Categories included dog that looks most like it's owner, waggiest tail and best in show.
The four-legged friends and their owners were treated to a variety of stalls and snacks, including a BBQ and a Pimms Tent.
Rev Dr Liz Horwell of Christ Church added it was impressive to see so many people who usually aren't seen in church grounds to turn out and support the cause.
The £2,000 raised by the event is to be put towards the church's 'Raise the Roof' campaign, which aims to raise enough money to replace the roof of the 150-year-old building and restore it to its former glory.
Jacqui added: "After the success of this years event we are hoping to make it bigger and better for next year."
