THE fire service has been given permission to build a 20-foot tower in a town’s high street.
Crews will use the structure at Ongar fire station to practice using safety equipment at height through the week.
But people living near the fire station said their privacy would be disturbed and the council restricted its hours to 9am to 1pm on Saturdays during a meeting last night (Wednesday).
The tower can be used between 9am and 9pm Monday to Friday.
The council agreed to review the use of the tower after a year.
