A NEW social club for older deaf people in the borough has opened.
The weekly forum is to be held at the Salvation Army shop in Forest Road, Walthamstow, every Friday lunchtime.
Remark, the charity organising the project, says it hopes it will bring deaf people together and help provide them with support.
Waltham Forest mayor Cllr Geoff Walker joined members and charity workers in officially opening the club today (Friday May 11).
It runs from 10.30am to 3.30pm and costs £3, and is open for people aged 55 and over. A free advice service and an interpreter will be on hand at each meet-up, and the entry price includes tea, coffee and a home-made lunch.
