LOVEABLE Rogues were beaten to the Britain’s Got Talent crown last night while former Chigwell pupils Charlotte and Jonathan came second.
The Rogues, whose songwriter Eddie Brett lives in Chingford, wowed the crowd with another original song last night but finished outside the top three in the public vote.
The winners were 16-year-old Ashleigh and her dog, Pudsey, who impressed the judges and public with an all-new dance routine.
But the trio is certain good things lie ahead.
After the final the group posted on Twitter: “Guys we are absolutely buzzing thank you soo much for your support!! Trust us, this is the start!!
“Couldn't be more happier with what we've done over the last few weeks, what an experience! Incredible!”
Twenty-year-old Eddie, from Station Road in Chingford, and his bandmates Sonny Jay and Te Eugene, played their new song, ‘Honest’, after the popularity of their previous track ‘Lovesick’.
And judge Simon Cowell maintained the act was one of the best he has seen.
After the performance he told the boys: ““Let me tell you how good you are. You’re like someone who’s already made it and comes onto the show to perform."
The group was beaten by dance troupe Only Boys Allowed, who came third, and Charlotte Jaconelli, 16, and Jonathan Antoine, 17, who came second.
The pair are former pupils of West Hatch High School in The High Road, Chigwell.
They were astounded at their high-placed finish, after their performance of ‘The Prayer’ by Celine Dion.
Charlotte said: “"Oh my God, we came second out of 70,000 people!"
