STREET art-themed murals and fantastical sculptures were among the work shown by 15 and 16-year-olds at a recent exhibition.
The pupils at St John’s School in Epping showed off the work they have done for their GCSE and Btec art exams at their classrooms in Tower Road.
Helen Turner, who will soon be leaving her post as head of art after more than 20 years, said: “This is one of the best cohorts we’ve had for a few years.
“To really be a part of this in my final year is brilliant. People have been saying it’s like a professional exhibition.
“The pupils were given some creative ideas, like street art, but they made it their own.
“I know the department will go from strength to strength.”
She plans to work in other schools after leaving St John’s.
