Walthamstow Stadium, on the former car park of which a transport company wants to build a bus depot
AN unexploded Second World War bomb could be located under the former car park of Walthamstow Stadium, it has emerged.
HCT Group has applied to build a bus depot on the Chingford Road site, but more than 100 people have objected over safety fears and expected noise pollution.
Council planners have recommended the bid is approved but, as a condition, the authority is insisting checks are carried out as records show the area was heavily bombed by the Nazis.
HCT said the the depot would create 270 jobs and training for 100 people a year.
Councillors are set to consider the application on Wednesday after approving a plan for a housing estate on the stadium site last week.
