A GUIDED bike ride to some of Epping Forest’s most intriguing archaeological sites will be held on Saturday.
The tour on Saturday, May 19, will be held by Catherine Cavanagh of the City of London Corporation.
It will take in the remains of the earthworks that formed the medieval forest boundary at the Purlieu Bank, and the Ambresbury Banks, where according to legend Queen Boadicea made a last stand against the ancient Romans and where Iron Age implements have been unearthed.
The group will be meeting at Theydon Bois London Underground station at 10am and the ride will last until about 1pm.
The route will follow forest paths so off-road bikes are recommended and helmets must be worn.
The event is free but booking is necessary.
Those taking part can bring their own refreshments or buy them at a pub on the way.
