PRIMARY school children have unveiled a mosaic which they designed to celebrate their school's new vegetable garden.
Youngsters at Stoneydown Park Primary in Walthamstow have been working on the project to transform a corner of their playground into a thriving garden.
Children from year five made the colourful nature-themed 'Wild Things' mosaic with help from the the Creative Arts Company's Amanda Parker.
Headteacher Jayne Cominetti said: "I am absolutely delighted with the finished mosaic – and so are children and their parents.
"It is a beautiful piece of work that will enhance our outdoor environment for years to come and will give pleasure to all those who view it, not least the children themselves as they now have a wonderful piece of art in their school and neighbourhood that they can proudly say they produced."
The development of the garden is an on-going project led by teacher Claire Davies, who is also studying part-time for a degree in horticulture.
