A TV game show star is set to open an exhibition on immigrants who arrived in Waltham Forest in the 1950s.
Shaun Wallace, of the ITV quiz The Chase, will open the Past Project Exhibition at Leyton Library, on Friday, May 25.
The display captures the memories of Caribbean, Nigerian and Jamaican people who arrived to live and work in the boroughs of Waltham Forest, Newham, Hackney and Tower Hamlets 60 years ago.
The African Heritage Educational Centre (AHEC), based in Clyde Place, Leyton, created the exhibition to preserve the heritage of east London inhabitants for future generations.
The charity interviewed former Waltham Forest councillor Lord Paul Boateng for the project along with Hackney North MP Diane Abbott and Olympic 400 metres champion Christine Ohurougu, who grew up in Stratford.
The exhibition at the library in High Road, Leyton, opens to the public from Saturday, May 26, and will be on view until after the Olympics.
