Site of the temporary Olympic police base on Wanstead Flats
OPPONENTS of plans to build a temporary Olympic police base on Wanstead Flats will hold a protest picnic on the site.
The 'People’s Picnic' has been organised by the Save Wanstead Flats group who launched an unsuccessful legal challenge after Parliament gave police permission to build on the Flats.
Construction of the temporary base is due to begin on June 23.
It will cover an eight acre site and be surrounded by an 11-foot high fence.
The picnic will take place on June 10 from 1pm.
